— Insurance Exams —

Do you know what your equine insurance requirements are? Many insurance programs will cover colic surgery, but an annual exam must be up to date in order to qualify, so be sure to check your requirements! A wellness exam, including vaccinations, deworming, fecal testing, and dental float are often required, and should be performed at least once a year. Be sure to check if your horse has met all of the qualifications set by your provider.

There are multiple colic insurance programs available that are associated with supplements, including SmartPak ColiCare®, Arenus Platinum Assurance Program™, and Platinum Performance Colic Coverage®. These are all wonderful plans to have in place in case your horse has a colic emergency. The biggest mistake we see is when people don’t follow through on the routine care that could void this program in the event that you need it.
